The Association held its 28th annual Congress on 22 June 2016 under the theme “DEMAND AND SUPPLY BALANCE – FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT”. The Congress that was graced by Hon. Dr. Goodall Gondwe, Minister of Finance Economic Planning and Development set a bench mark for all players to consider drawing policies that target to improve the livelihoods of the Malawian farmers.
TAMA through its President Mr. Reuben Maigwa asked government to consider establishing an Agricultural Development Bank with an aim to offer soft loans to farmers. The Honorable Minister said he had taken note of the request though he did not promise the moon.
The Guest Speaker was a renowned specialist in tobacco production, processing and manufacturing, Mr. Paulo Saath, from Japan Tobacco International (JTI).
