Government commends TAMA Farmers Trust on grower engagement

Dr. Jerome Chimgonda Nkhoma, Director of Agricultural Extension Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development commended TAMA Farmers Trust for the continued efforts to take along tobacco industry and value chain stakeholders whenever the Trust engages farmers.
He spoke to hundreds of participants during the launch of the Trust’s Annual Area Meetings at an event that took place at Mphomwa TAMA Depot on 8 February 2020.
“This launch of Annual Area Meetings for famers in the TAMA Farmers Trust is very significant to the Ministry as well as to the farmers because it has provided both farmers and stakeholders along the value chain a platform to review how they have performed in the past. I have also noted that farmers also very good ideas and they were able to provide suggestions on how best to address some of the challenges they have been experiencing in the industry,” said Nkhoma.
Dr. Nkhoma went on to advise the stakeholders to take and address the concerns raised by the farmers.
The meetings spread across the country after the launch from 10th to 21st February, 2020.
